The first thing you do before you can use Outlook is after installation you must create a profile. The profile defines who you are and how you connect to your mail.

Microsoft kindly provide a nice helpfull interface to this, the next few screens show you through that process of setting up a POP3 mailbox. Your details will differ from mine.
