What to do

When you first start you will have a house of your own, with a description which looks like this

Muck Screen
Start-up Description
====================
Please setup your character using and setup your home, this is a default home description given to help you, use the mucks help system ('help') or the web site on http://www.xcalibur.co.uk/muck/camelot.html for information on building.
To help you run around the muck there is a 'map' command which shows any exits in the standard compass directions, and Merlin has made some 'portal's to help you get to different villages quickly.

If you are new to mucking, there is a getting started section on the website which takes you through many of the things you need to know. Http://www.xcalibur.co.uk/muck/basics1.html

But above all. Have fun! If you cant work something out, page one of the Helpstaff ('hs') or Wizards ('wizzes'), who will try and help you.

Exits: out

Your actual character will have a description of 'You see nothing special' (typing 'look me' will show you this). You also have no gender or species, which means you are very non-descript, much as I hate programs which make people lazy as to what's going on behind the scenes, a command called 'editplayer' will if nothing else give you an idea of what you can do to yourself. Without knowing anything, below are some of the standard things to set, in brackets after are examples of the real muck commands the editplayer program is using.

Set yourself a description (@desc me=A small furry animal), a gender (@set me=sex:Male, or @set me=sex:Female) and a species (use @set me=species:dog). Now you have a basic character.

Dont forget, to read the 'help' if you are stuck. This can also be viewed online here.

All species welcome as long as the names are clean, also, please keep your descriptions clean (i.e. PG-13 rated - failure to do so is against our AUP) and wander round, see what's around maybe think of how you want to look a little more, talk to people. There are a growing number of things to do if you find no one you want to talk to. There are a couple of simple quests in the castle, and plenty of land to explore. See our map! (here) For extra commands do check the 'globals' list, you should be able to do 'command #help', 'help command' or 'look command' for information on a specific command, not all of those options will work but at least one of them should do depending on the command.

If you are going to build, please see the 'Basic Building' and 'Building' sections, it may all seem really complicated to start with, but after a while you will soon get the hang of it, and wonder why you thought it was so hard. A number of people would view it as learning the hard way, but it the only way garrenteed to work everywhere, but also, in the end, it gives you the most understanding. So, rather than learn twice. It seemed like a good idea. In the 'basic Building' section it covers how to make objects, more rooms and even new commands. It also demonstrates how to make your area more interesting to you and the rest of Camelot's residents. The 'Building' section shows how to add more life to your areas with a hint of things such as MPI. Dont panic if these things dont make sense to you just yet.
