Turning your ideas into reality

Sometimes the hardest part of building on a muck is knowing how best to create it. For example, think of a local national monument near you. If you wished to build this, you could do it as a single object in a room - or even use a fake object to do this. However, would this really achieve what you wanted? I live near StoneHenge, now, I could make this as a single room, describing a large field with stones in. However, that might not give the player the chance to interact with it in a manner I desire.

Some hints on what to think of before you start

Only you know exactly what you want people to imagine this idea of yours to be like, for them to see what you do, you need to specify as much information as you can. Picture what you want in your mind, and write on paper (or draw it if you are one of those lucky people who can draw) and think of all the details you need to describe to someone who cant see that image till they get what you see. I once thought that a badly described world is like me without my glasses, you can probably see odd shapes and imagine what they could be, but sadly, not much more (I am very short-sighted, I do mean VERY for those of you in the know, -6.5).

If your idea needs for people to be able to move around then you will really need to have multiple rooms, to allow the passing from one area to another. If you do not, one room should suffice.

If its a very complicated area, you might want to use fake objects so people may look at specific details (this helps keep the number of lines down) or if you are using the weather, this can make the descriptions very complicated to make and test but you will need Woof to set you up some items before you can install weather in your area.

If you need people to interact with it, such as change things like the levers in the dungeons in Camelot castle, you need to make commands. You may need only to use MPI to do this, but more complicated things are often best done in MUF. (For using the MPI read these pages )
